Northwest Suburban Conference Track and Field Championship
Bus info – Bus leave Maple Grove Senior High at 1:50, out of class at 1:30 ONLY IF YOU RIDE THE BUS.
Spectators – There is an entry fee for the meet- $7 adults, $5 students – ONLINE PURCHASE ONLY – Ticket Link: https://www.vancoevents.com/BWCI
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE CONTRUCTION ON HWY 169. TAKE HWY 10 INSTEAD AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME.

Coaches General Information:

Entries:
● Each team will get 3 competitors per running event and field event plus one relay team per relay event.
● Coaches will post their entries and times to the website by Noon on the Friday( May 19th, 2023) prior to the first day of competition. ● Entries will be processed through athletic.net

Seed entries:
● Seed times/distances: – Coach should enter seed times/distances that have actually been achieved this season. Do not enter times/distances you will run, could run, or might run.

● Seed time on entry sheets must be converted to F.A.T. times. (Hand times convert by adding .24)

Basic Meet Information:
● Scoring
Individuals/Relays: 12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1
● Scratch Rules:
Scratches can be made with replacements for the prelim day – get them to the meet manager at coaches meeting. Scratches for final day – no replacements unless field event or 1600 meters. Replacements cannot be a better distance or faster time.

A google form will be sent out to submit scratches.
Use the attached relay card if you need to change names from the ones you submitted electronically.
● Relay cards will be included in the Conference Directives. Fill in and return to the meet manager on Day 2 of the meet.
● Protests/Questions:
Coaches are to stay out of the press box during the meet. Please bring issues to the meet manager/meet referee as soon as the head coach is aware of the issue and they will summon the Games Committee/Jury. Have a violation in the rule book to support your protest. Decisions on this day are final.

● Jury member selection:
Jury members will rotate based on alphabetical order in the conference.
The previous year girls jury will go to the boys jury in the following year and then rotate out in the third year. (2022 shown below and needs to be adjusted)

Alternates will be from the opposite gender grouping.

Boys: Andover, Anoka, Armstrong

Girls: Blaine, Centennial, Champlin Park

Awards:

● All Conference: The top four places of individual events will earn All Conference Honors and medals. The top three places of relay events will earn All Conference Honors and medals.

● All Conference Honorable Mention:

Recommended guideline: Individuals are 5-9th places and 4th & 5th places for relays

● One Top Performer in Track and One Top Performer in Field for each gender.

● Each school must provide two (2) adults. Assigned as below:

Event Specific Information for Coaches/Athletes:

Seeding and qualifications to Finals for the running events:

● Serpentine seeding will be done in all running events 400 meters or less and the hurdle events for the preliminary heats.

● Qualifying for finals in the above events: Heat winner and the next x fastest times.

● Seeding for Finals: Running Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, high hurdles, 300m hurdles:

Assign lanes – fastest to slowest 4-5-3-6-2-7-1-8-9

(Heat winners will be seeded in middle lanes by time)

Relays – Fast Heats should have 9 teams – slow heat with 5 teams..

800m run:
1st place finishers of each prelim heat seed by lot into alleys 2-3-1
2nd place finishers of each prelim heat seed by lot into alleys 4-2-3
3rd place finishers of each prelim heat seed by lot into alleys 1-4-2
3 fastest qualifying times among the remaining runners seed by lot into alleys 3-1-4

3200/1600 RACES -The “break time” for fast and slow heats for the 1600m run/3200m run and
all relays will be posted on the website by Saturday afternoon.

Field Events:
● Shot & Discus:
Shot put and discus will be run in seeded in reverse order flights.(best is last) Each entrant may have three (3) attempts in the prelims. The number of individuals advancing to the finals shall be one more the number of scoring places, plus any ties, will advance to the finals and have three (3) more attempts. 5 FLIGHTS with a maximum of 9 will be run during the preliminary rounds.

● Long and Triple Jump: Long and triple jump will be run with one competitor from each school in each prelim flight. Coaches may assign jumpers to flights in the order of their choice. Jumping will be CAFETERIA STYLE. Each prelim flight will consist of 15 minutes for run-throughs and 45 minutes for competition. Each competitor may have three (3) prelim attempts. The number of individuals advancing to the finals shall be one more the number of scoring places, , plus any ties, will advance to the finals and have three (3) more attempts. Three flights of 14 jumpers per flight.

● High Jump:
This event will be run using the 3-alive procedure. Event will be run in reverse order of seeds.(best is last)

Girls high jump – start at 4’2”, go up 2 inches at a time until 3 or less competitors remain and then increase by 1 inch at a time. When there is 1 person left, the height to jump is their choice.

Boys high jump – start at 5’2”, go up 2 inches at a time until 3 or less competitors remain and then increase by 1 inch at a time. When there is 1 person left, the height to jump is their choice.
